The Open Gateway is an initiative aimed at standardizing APIs to enable application developers to optimize telecommunications networks for new, mainly 5G-based digital services, and to improve customer experiences with traditional services such as gaming and online conferences. Launched in 2023, this initiative has a global scale, with the participation of major mobile network operators worldwide.
Viettel is currently the only telecommunications operator in Vietnam participating in the GSMA Open Gateway initiative.
By joining the initiative, Viettel can define and develop new APIs and independently develop an open gateway in compliance with the GSMA Open Gateway standard. This allows developers and digital service providers across various industries to leverage Viettel's network features, especially the advanced features of 5G networks, including high speed, high stability, low latency, and large device density.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Henry Calvert, Head of Network at GSMA, remarked, "Viettel is a major telecommunications network. Together, we can create, improve, and bring new and more appealing digital services and technologies to the global market and reach our global clients more swiftly.”
