35 years of Viettel (1/6/1989 – 1/6/2024) has been a journey of technological innovation to serve each customer as an individual, with needs that should be heard and uniquely addressed. From services for the wealthy in the 2000s, the appearance of a military enterprise changed the landscape of Vietnam's telecommunications industry.

Over 20 years ago, residents of major cities in Vietnam were afraid to use mobile phones because getting connected cost a whole gold ring, and making a one-minute call would cost two bowls of pho per minute. Meanwhile, rural and mountainous areas dared not even dream of such luxuries. Everything changed with Viettel.

In Hanoi, on May 31, 2024, the Military Industry and Telecommunications Group (Viettel) held a ceremony to celebrate its 35th anniversary (June 1, 1989 - June 1, 2024). During the event, Viettel was awarded the First-Class National Defense Order as per decision No. 439/QD-CTN dated May 21, 2024. Previously, Viettel received the First-Class Independence Order in 2019, the title of People's Armed Forces Hero in 2014, and the title of Labor Hero in 2007.

Nha Trang, April 11, 2024 – Viettel Solutions, a subsidiary of the Viettel Group, signed a memorandum of understanding with Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel) to co-develop the Vietnam - Singapore Cable System (VTS), directly connecting Vietnam and Singapore.

Hanoi, April 10, 2024 – Viettel Group has inaugurated the Viettel Hoa Lac Data Center, boasting a capacity of 30MW, making it the largest in Vietnam. The new data center is built using the latest green technologies. The event was attended by Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Minister of Information and Communications, and Vice Chairman of the National Committee for Digital Transformation; Mr. Le Quang Huy, Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Science, Technology and Environment; Mr. Bui The Duy, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology; Major General Tran Dinh Thang, Director of the Economic Department of the Ministry of National Defence; and Major General Vu Ngoc Thiem, Head of the Government Cipher Committee.
