Viettel won telecom contract in Peru
Viettel Group has won a business contract to setting up the fourth mobile network in Peru, according to the Private Investment Promotion Agency of Peru.
With the new contract, Peru becomes the fifth foreign markets which the Vietnamese operator has set its foothold.
Viettel defeated other bidders from Russia, Chile, and Brazil by pledging to provide free-of-charge internet for 4,025 local schools in following ten years, much higher than the minimum requirement of 1,350 schools.
The group intends to invest around US $400 million in setting up its network and business organizations in Peru in the next decade.
Peru has already opened its telecom markets to three foreign operators from Mexico (America Movil SAB), Spain (MoviStar) and the US (Nextel)./
